You maybe able to find a used Kia at the right price.
5000 can get you a decent car – my mazda ’01 protege was about 5,400 when all was said and done and i LOVE my car!!! check out ebay or craigslist…and don’t ignore the possibility of putting a chunck or your 5k down as a down payment and getting a loan to buy a newer car – hondas are good, toyotas are great, i love mazdas – i would stay away from the vws while you’re young, they’re great cars but if something breaks it’s WAY more expensive to get fixed than say a honda or toyota – good luck!
oh yeah, and 100k isn’t what it used to be – a toyota that’s newer than 2000 with 100k is still a really great car – just have a mechanic check it out before you buy!
Sounds like a good plan. Since it’s your first car and you’re just getting your driver’s license, I’d recommend you get a used car (getting a brand new car at such a young age can make you feel spoiled, which you don’t want). I’d say get a good used car for now, but make sure it’s not too old (I’d say no further back than models from 2001). Then, when you get to college you can upgrade to a newer car.
im in the same situation as you, turning 17 in oct and getting a used car a month after that. Its probably going to be a sporty car, and if you plan to get one, don’t be put down by the people here who say “your going to crash, insurance price, gas price.”
If your looking at the golf go for the GTI, good on fuel (if you care about that) and looks amazing
Muscle cars are always an option, mustang, camaro, firebird…got extra power if you need it.
Then you can go along with the honda people for civics, which I admin are nice cars (older ones) to make look good.
enjoi
honda accord 4 cylinder, the civic gets a little better gas mileage than the accord but the accord has alot more room. also toyota camry’s are great.
maybe SAABs?? They are safe and used they are VERY cheap.
I would most definetly suggest a Passat they are great cars, or go with an Acura they are freaking amazing. But it really depends on your taste. Stay away from American brands. I bought an American car for my first car it was a piece of shit.
my first car was a 1990 cavalier with 250,000 kms on it, it ran great and i paid around $1200 for it. Unfortunately i got into an accident but i swear i would still be driving it now if it wasnt for the accident. Seriously i would get a truck. you can do so much more with it, its good in the winter, and women driving trucks are sexy. Im a little biased becaus ei own one but i dont think i will ever go back to a car again! good luck!
100K on a Honda is nothing. You’ll have a car good for 300,000 miles with proper maintenance. They are cheap to operate and get great mpg.
