How can I unlock my steering wheel in a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle?
My 2001 VW Beetle will not allow me to turn the ignition to start it up. My steering wheel is locked and I think that is why I cannot turn the ignition. I desperately need help with this and I’m starting to get worried. How can I unlock my steering wheel without turning on my car?

Most likely it is pressure from the steering on the steering lock that jams up the key and prevents movement.
You can relieve the pressure by gently rocking the steering wheel back and forth, while trying to turn the key.
If you still can not, then something in the steering lock many have come loose and be need to be replaced, but this is rare.
Simple pressure binding it up is very common.
Unlocking the steering and turning on the car are always done simultaneously.
You have to turn the wheel slightly to get the load off of the lock and then turn the key. It is a coordinated thing that you need to learn to own a modern car(Not just VW has this).
