Is this 2001 Volkswagen Beetle worth the price?
I’m looking at a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle on craigslist. The owner says that the car needs a rear driver side rodor, pad and caliper. It’s over a little over 100,000 miles and she’s asking $3,000 for it. Is it worth the price she’s asking?

100.000 no chance, that means the whole car has done the same, all the mechanical components drop the price in half.
the price is about right, but DO NOT buy this car. the new Beetles are horribly unreliable and labor costs for repairs is a lot more than similar cars. the Beetle’s engine compartment is an extremely tight space(i was forced to work on a few, i’ve been there), it can take a lot longer to perform simple repairs because of which. in the end, a mechanic will usually have to remove 3 parts just to reach 1. this results in higher labor costs when it breaks down. a lot of the late 90s/early 00s VWs usually go haywire around 120k, especially if it’s an automatic. find yourself a Honda or a Subaru in the same pricerange, it’ll give you less grief.
DO NOT BUY!!!! I love mine but i have put $3500 in to it the last two years and it needs another $2500 to maybe make it run. the parts are not expensive and most thing i have changed or fixed myself, but if you have a dealer do them your looking at some expensive fixes. good luck! but i would think twice before buying it.
